Southdown Plantation House.... This two Story, Victorian-style museum is just minutes away from the Holiday Inn at Houma.The Southdown Plantation exhibits antique furnishings along with history and culture of ancient Houma civilization. The 21-room mansion houses various collections including 135 Boehm and Doughty porcelain birds, a re-creation of U.S. Senator Allen J. Ellender's private Washington D.C. office, original bedroom furniture from the period, and a Terrebonne Parish Oral History Room. The museum is just 60 miles west of New Orleans. The Southdown Plantation house has gift shops, parking area and picnic ground which makes it an ideal destination to enjoy during your vacations or weekend holiday. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the last tour starting at 3 p.m. It is closed on major holidays.

Nicholls State University.... The Allied Health and Continuing Education Building, one of Nicholls State's newest campus additions, is situated conveniently in Terrebonne Parish behind the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center. The new building offers Terrebonne students teleconferencing capabilities with the main Nicholls State campus in Thibodaux.
Southern Oaks Golf Club.... This fairly wide-open course winds its way through groves of stately oak trees. The greens are flat and medium-sized. A small creek comes into play on a couple of holes. The signature hole is #8, a 350-yard, par 4, requiring an approach shot over a pond guarding the front of the green. There are additional tees that can be used when playing an eighteen hole round. The club is open all round the year .It has Greens and Fairways of Bermuda Grass and has nine holes.It has Dress code: Collared shirt, no cutoffs, denim allowed.
